Providing individual and groups of children with well-considered, diverse and innovative learning pathways is a feature of this centre. Effective self review, by centre leaders and teachers, inquires into the success of curriculum decision making in improving children’s learning and progress. An emphasis, in planning and assessment, is given to supporting children’s developing conceptual understandings, increasing their vocabulary and attaining knowledge and skills for mathematics and literacy learning.

Programmes for all children, and particularly for those under two, reflect the holistic way they develop and learn, and the importance of close relationships between teachers and families. Routines are flexible and meet the needs of individual children.
The centre philosophy is based on valuing reciprocal, responsive relationships and providing a child-led programme that empowers children to become independent and confident learners.

Infants, toddlers and young children participate in a diverse range of planned and spontaneous learning experiences. Children confidently make choices from various stimulating activities, plentiful resources and interesting events. Familiar routines are flexible enough to allow for infants and toddlers’ individual needs. Positive relationships are established between children and with adults. Infants respond affectionately to the attention and nurture from their primary caregivers. Children’s developing knowledge and skills are fostered through their participation in experiences that are meaningful, caring and provide inherent satisfaction.

The purposeful learning environment is well set out and resourced. Recent extensive improvements to the outdoor area enhance children’s play. Further development is planned for this area. Two classrooms operate with children having access to both. They are attractively presented with ample space for exploration and learning. Children demonstrate respect for their environment.
